Today I am going to introduce you to the best adult bunk beds that are made of metal. I usually don’t mention bunk beds that are made for adults, but I’ve seen a huge interest in it and not a lot of good articles on them.
I’ve been reviewing and testing bunk beds for years. I’ve slept on them for 15 years. My kids are also sleeping on bunk beds. The accumulation of that knowledge led me to help people in finding the perfect bunk beds.
Here are the best adult bunk beds made out of metal, starting from highest price to lowest:
Adult Metal Bunk Beds – TOP Tier Price

If I compare this bunk bed to any vehicle then I’d call it a TANK! It is unbelievably strong. So strong even, that there are no other bunk beds as sturdy as this one.
If you are familiar with my writing, you’d know my stance on metal bunk beds… I rarely recommend them. This one, however, made me a believer. The material does play a role if we look at how strong, loud, or sturdy something is, Although metal bunk beds can be strong in a sense of weight capacity, they oftentimes fail to be quiet. I am going to be frank, I even hate metal bunk beds because of that. Coaster Home Furnishings 460078 Bunk Bed’s design is so well made that you won’t hear a single squeak or creak, even after years of usage. It is rare, let me tell you that. Not only is it built with quality, but it also looks freaking awesome as well.
This kind of design isn’t common, and although the build itself is great, you do have to get used to the following things:
People usually come out from the side, you’ll have to figure out how to place it in a room where one of the bunk bed’s sides is free, and also where one of the ends isn’t occupied. Since ladders are on sides, you’ll just have to slide out.
Speaking of ladders, if you worry that they are too thin, then don’t. Hurting your feet is a big issue with bunk beds, but since they designed rungs to be flat, discomfort is reduced greatly.
If you look at the bunk bed itself, you’ll notice that it’s wider than usual. That’s because Coaster Home is full-on-full. Regular ones are twin on twin. That allows you a lot more extra space, as well as sleep together with someone on either bunk. Since weight capacity is 400 pounds (800 total), it’s possible for lower-weight people.
Mattress thickness doesn’t really matter. You can even put a 12″ mattress on the lower bunk. On the top bunk, I’d advise you to use 8″ so the frame protects you at least a little bit from falling down. Check out an awesome article from ‘bestmattress’ brand on the best mattresses!

Style and elegance. That’s what comes to my mind when I look at this bed. Although it has its own certain light and graceful look, it is heavy. Not as heavy as my previous recommendation, but it will take a toll on you should you wish to move it from one corner to another.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing since with weight comes quality – It’s incredibly sturdy and can withstand a respectable weight on each bunk (around 200 per bunk). If you wish for a bigger weight limit, the previous 460078 would be an excellent choice.
Still, it would be perfect for adults who are searching for something stylish, more room on the bottom bunk, and for something that isn’t too expensive. What I appreciate from the makers is that they placed the ladder on the side rather than front or back. First of all, it gives you a lot more room (don’t have to free space on left and right), and also gives top bunk sleepers a comfortable way to get down. Vertical ones are just a nightmare. I wish they flattened the rungs a bit more, but as we see in the picture, they are not completely rounded which is good for legs.
Definitely check it out if your weight doesn’t exceed 200 pounds too much.

I changed the previous low-priced bunk bed to ‘outdated’ since there have been some significant improvements in the selections.
This DHP Miles bunk bed has been selected for various reasons. Firstly, its weight capacity is a lot bigger compared to my previous selection. 300 pounds on each bunk makes it even stronger than the mid-tier bunk bed!
It is still not strong enough for a couple to sleep on each bunk, but you won’t have to worry about breaking something if you are jumping on it alone. The price is a bit higher, but the DHP bunk bed is well worth the money, considering how well-designed and sturdy it is.
The choices in build and color are also very welcome. DHP bunk beds can be in 4 different colors, and be ordered in 4 different sizes: Twin/Twin, Twin/Full, Twin/Futon, Full/Full.
Twin/Futon, by the way, is a bed that has a couch-like seat on the bottom bunk. It can also be transformed into a Twin/Full.
The only drawback that can maybe be considered is the ladder. I just hate small rungs. Stepping on them, especially as a fully grown adult, is quite painful. Luckily, they aren’t round as most rungs but squaring flat.
But I do wish they had a bigger footing.

This time we are going to go a completely different route. There are some bunk beds at around the same cost as this one that I’ve recommended previously, but they all have some different characteristics.
Since adults are going to be sleeping on this one, transportation might be an important factor. Maybe you are moving a lot, and are in search of something mobile and inexpensive. This bunk bed can literally be assembled in under 1 hour. I’ve reviewed many bunk beds, and only one company manages to beat them in terms of assembly time, and that’s Kido Bunk bed, made specifically for camping. Less than an hour is extremely fast, and if that’s what you are looking for, this bunk bed might be for you. As with mid-tier adult bunk beds, this can also withstand around 200 pounds max. So the overall selling point for this bed is really its price and assembly time. The design isn’t really anything special. All you have to worry about is the quality of sleep you can get with it. Unfortunately, it squeaks. That is one of the biggest reasons I don’t recommend metal bunk beds. You may not hear it in the beginning, but after a while, it can become an issue. If you are using this bed regularly, I recommend tightening the screws, and if that doesn’t help, reassemble the bed and lube up every troublesome connection. That might help for a time.
Other than that, it’s a decent metal adult bunk bed for any age. Check it out!
