I am back with the reviews of various bunk beds and in this case, loft beds, after being away for nearly 2 months. The reason was mainly overworking and having no time to focus on this site.
But, after seeing some encouragement not only through improved finance but from nice comments, I decided to widen the time to focus on it yet again. Expect many articles in the future!
But back to this bed.
One thing is for sure – kids will love it! When they are young, all they want is to play around and do stuff that we, parents, wouldn’t even necessarily approve of it. However, this loft bed is unique in terms of having a slide. It’s something that not many companies add. Seeing DHP, one of the most known bunk bed makers in the world, create one, is quite surprising.
Nevertheless, I wouldn’t be negative towards it. On the contrary, I want more manufacturers to be innovative and make awesome bunk beds like this for our kids.
However, they did make a mistake when they designed it…It’s just too sharp. This whole bed is made out of metal, and not only that, those edges that you see in the picture above can seriously harm your children if they aren’t careful. Because of that, even though I love this bed, I wouldn’t recommend it as it is.
Instead, if you are deadset on buying it, please consider purchasing these edge guards so your children can be safe when fooling around. I’ve read many reviews where someone has a deep cut just because they hit their head or body against the edge. Buy those edge guards or padding foams, wrap it around the whole structure, or at least the most dangerous parts, and then you can sleep with ease.
The slide itself is fairly safe and is made tube-shaped instead of being squarish. That is a plus in my eyes. Not only that, it can withstand a significant amount of weight. Even grown-ups can use the slide without problems. The weight limit is 200 pounds for the bed, so keep that in mind!Other than the safety issue, I don’t really have any problems with this bed. I would like this bed to be made out of wood but considering the price, I can’t really complain. It’s very cheap! You can also buy curtain sets for the room below.
If I had a choice, curtains would definitely be included, it creates that awesome cozy feeling that I just really love. But you have to buy them separately. With curtains and a mattress, the price for this bunk bed is around $300.
It’s not much considering that not only is it unique but it’s very durable against the challenge called time. Try not to over-tighten the bolts as it puts extra pressure on the structure. If all goes smoothly, it should serve you and your kids for years to come.
Really a good deal for such a price. But, don’t forget to buy the edge guards as well then!
