There are sometimes situations where you look at stuff, and it reminds you something… but you can’t really place your finger on it. This one might have the same effect. It is EXTREMELY similar to Merax – a bunk bed that I looked at a few weeks ago.
If you read that post, you probably noticed that I wasn’t too keen to give it a high rating. There were too many issues that were pulling that bunk bed down in my eyes. I’ll go into them deeper this time.
Does this one have the same problems?
Unfortunately, yes.
At this price point, there are few bunk beds that can provide a solid long-term solution for your children. If it’s anything less, your kids may handle it because they are young after all and don’t have experience in differentiating good from bad, but it will be uncomfortable for them.
The first issue that pops into my mind is the ladder. Me, as an adult, are about to go on a tantrum. Why… do bunk beds still make those horrible stepping rungs? Why can’t you think of something better?
And it’s not like one company is making these same mistakes; almost every single bun bed manufacturer that makes metal bunks decided to create the thinnest rungs ever known to mankind. Again, this cannot be used as it is, so I would recommend using foam padding. It’s a recommendation I use in may bunk beds.
However, the most annoying part isn’t even the ladder, it’s the structure itself – NOT sturdy despite what the title says or how it’s called.
Metal beds are known for being sturdy, but it’s not the case with this one. It will sway left and right, back and front as soon as you put your weight on it. Fortunately, it’s not as light as Merax; it’s about 15 pounds heavier which makes it a tad easier to climb up. With Merax there was a risk of bunk bed falling on top of you if you placed your weight too far apart from the ladder.
However, there are some good things to this bunk bed.
Its shipping schedule is extremely hasty. What I mean by that is as soon as you order it, it will be shipped on that same day. Usually, it takes around 1 to 3 days, and that’s if you are lucky. Quite unheard of to be honest, and something that isn’t available for Walker Edison edition.
Assembly is also quite straightforward and won’t require 2+ people, as it is with many other wooden bunk beds.
